A teacher friend of mine, had introduced me to CrossFit and I was hooked. After fearing I would need knee operations and that my days of lifting anything heavy were over, after 2 years, I am in the best shape of my life.
After spending 12 years working as a Physical Education teacher, being passionate about sport and ensuring young people have the skills to not only keep themselves fit and healthy but to also be successful in whatever athletic endeavours they may choose, I found CrossFit. From there I have not looked back. I am excited to bring CrossFit to Kenya, my home for the last 5 years.
I have attended CrossFit Level 1, 2 and Kids trainer seminars and continue to develop my knowledge with further courses whenever possible. Being in Kenya it is not always easy to access courses. I also wish to delve further into olympic lifting — with a respective course on my agenda.
We are all very excited to bring CrossFit to Kenya first. The fitness community wants access to and deserves the best that the world has to offer. It is our belief and our passion that in the sphere of health and fitness CrossFit offers just that.
Fitness is health and health is fitness.
I have been intrigued with Fitness and generally human body mechanics ever since I was young. I am consumed with the love of helping people become more Fit and seeing their lives change as a result, be it from helping an asthmatic person run their first kilometre without the use of an inhaler, an elderly person getting his first proper full push-up, or supporting a new CrossFit athlete work to beat their personal record.
After many years of study, research, and my own personal fitness journey, I was lucky to be introduced to CrossFit in 2014. Soon after being introduced to CrossFit and realizing the exciting possibilities for helping people get to the next level, I did my Level 1 certificate.
Now, the land trainer for one of the best swim team in Kenya at Peponi School. I have implemented CrossFit as their strength and condition programme — which has contributed to their successes in the pool.
I love human movement and the science behind it with my number one goal being to offer safe, efficient and effective coaching to the community. Matching that, I also truly appreciate the feeling of camaraderie that comes from the pursuit of whatever our goal is as we workout and sweat together.
I am Winston (Winnie). I have a degree in Sports and Recreation Management for which I wrote my dissertation on the effectiveness of CrossFit in comparison to other exercise programmes. CrossFit won! I love to compete and have always been very active and played a lot of sports, it was natural for me to strive for a career in that area. I have been doing CrossFit for two years — it was love at first sight.
CrossFit has led me towards Olympic Weight Lifting where I am currently training and competing with a view to making the Kenyan team at various upcoming championships. It is still early days but I am excited about the prospects that this holds. I am also excited to share my knowledge of Olympic Weightlifting with our Athletes at CrossFit Kwetu and get you ripping somwinniee serious weight off of the floor!

I enjoy coaching because I love working with people and seeing transformation of lives through fitness. Coaching allows you to be a good role model, it teaches you how to multitask, it gives you the ability to apply what you know. As a coach you are constantly placed in situations where you have to face your fears and deal with them in the most positive way. My favourite movements in CrossFit are front squats, back squats and lunges Anna loves using the kettle-bell. I enjoy CrossFit so much because of the variety of workouts, everyday is different and an adventure, there isn’t anytime to get bored.
